Tam Coc is located in Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex which was recognized by UNESCO as a mixed natural and cultural property. Tam Coc is one of the most favorite spots in Ninh Binh thanks to its towering outcrops sweeping up from serene rice paddies.

Bich Dong Pagoda is an important religious place for the locals in the region. It comprises three structures: Ha (Low), Trung (Middle), and Thuong (Upper) pagodas in ascending order at the side of a rocky mountain. It is nice for a hike up to visit the three structures. Inside each pagoda, looming statues and the smoke of burning incense create an otherworldly atmosphere. From the top, there are some incredible views of the countryside.

Trang An Landscape Complex

Trang An wharf is located 3 km south of Hoa Lu ancient capital, 7 km from Ninh Binh city to the west along Trang An boulevard, 16 km from Tam Diep city in the north through Tam Coc. Trang An - Tam Coc zone has an area of more than 6,172 ha, which is a special protection area of scenic spots. This special protection zone is located within Hoa Lu special-use forest, belonging to Hoa Lu ancient capital preservation plan and also under the planning of Trang An World Heritage site with an area of 12,252 ha. In the Trang An landscape complex, the center of Hoa Lu ancient capital in the north, Tam Coc - Bich Dong tourist area is in the south and Trang An eco-tourism area is in the central position. These three areas are linked together by Hoa Lu special-use forest on limestone mountains and rivers, lakes and swamps.

Tam Coc

Tam Coc or Tam Coc river, Tam Coc cave is considered as the most attractive tourist destination in Ninh Binh, known for its famous name like “Halong bay on land” and is a part of the Trang An scenic landscape complex, the World Heritage site (UNESCO). It is located in Ninh Binh province, near the Tam Coc village.
Tam Coc is a combination of two distinct attractions: Tam Coc, a flooded cave karst system and Bich Dong, a series of mountain pagodas.

Once you get here, you will stay in the capital of Vietnam during the reigns of Dinh king (968 – 80) and the beginning of Le king (980 – 1009). Hoa Lu capital has an area of about 3 km2 with temples, shrines and the king’s palace
